Rick: We’re going to fight…and we are going to lose people…maybe a lot of them…maybe each other even…

Michonne: I can’t lose you.

Rick: Fighting the fight is living. You showed me that. You can lose me. I can lose you. We can lose our friends…people we love. It’s not about us. It’s about a future…

Apostle Paul: But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come…the time of my departure has come.  I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith…

Why do you wake up in the morning? What is the fundamental thing that drives everything else that you do? If we are honest, most days are filled with the urgent demands of the moment. Gotta get to work, gotta pick up the kids, gotta get dinner on the table. But, as Christians we have been set apart by God for a greater hope. Our citizenship is in heaven, and we have been promised life with God and His people forever. But between here and there we are called to fight the good fight. Fights might be fun to watch on Pay-Per-View or in the latest action blockbuster, but in real life they cause pain and suffering. But when what you are fighting for is the ultimate good,  the ultimate truth, and the ultimate hope then we need to encourage one another. With the Holy Spirit in us we have are filled with the same power that raised Christ from the dead and we can trust that God will see us to the end when we will be in His presence forever. So let’s not give up hope in the middle of the battle, but rest in the work of Christ who has conquered sin and death and made us his own.
